Are you looking for a way to participate in upcoming Earth Day, or Arbor Day activities, but don’t feel like you have a large block of time to commit? Planting a tree may not work if you don’t have the space or resources to do so. Saving a tree is something anyone can do! Trees are not harvested to produce BIO BLOCK Firewood.

Don’t Move Firewood Campaign

Another way to save a tree is to be aware of the Don’t Move Firewood Campaign. A few of the most commonly known insects that are killing trees are the Emerald Ash Borer, Asian Longhorned Beetle, and the European Gypsy Moth. This campaign is an effort to educate the public on the damage that is being done to trees. Many areas have restrictions on moving firewood because of these wood-borne pests.

It is important to be aware of possible restrictions on firewood movement, as the camping season approaches. To find which states have regulations, go to the map at www.dontmovefirewood.org Another option is to call the state park, or campground, before leaving home. Taking BIO BLOCKS with you, makes it possible to have a traditional campfire, in spite of any restrictions.

Many businesses and families are making changes to protect the Earth.  Their efforts to build a healthy, sustainable environment will impact future generations. Organized events, in April, emphasize environmental responsibility. There are many small steps, however, that can be taken throughout the year. Burning BIO BLOCK Firewood is one step that you can take. It can be Earth Day, every day, when you build a fire from recycled materials!
